DESIGN PROCESS

There are 872 museums on the list, covering most countries in the world. Obviously, users of TripAdvisor have strong museum preferences. There is a huge difference in the number of museums in the countries on the list. Users of this platform are obviously more inclined to European and American countries. Countries in other regions such as Nepal, Mongolia, and Zimbabwe are not on the list.

Art and history are the most popular museum themes. Among them, there are 355 historical museums, accounting for 41% of the total. There are 265 art-themed museums, accounting for 30% of the total. In fact, it is difficult to distinguish between history and art in many national museums. Therefore, users on TripAdvisor have a strong interest in history, art, and humanities.

European region accounts for 45%, followed by North America with 36%.

CHOOSE MUSEUM IN A SMARTER WAY

The popularity of a museum has a lot to do with the number of reviews. The more reviews there are the more people who have been to the museum or interested. More user reviews make critique more reliable and objective. How could we know which number of reviews represents the quality of the museum? What's the relationship between museum reviews, museum ratings, and museum rank?

There is a certain positive correlation relationship between ratings and ranks, but not absolute. Many high-rank museums have not received 5.0, and the top five rank museums mainly received 4.5 on rating.

There is a certain positive correlation relationship between the number of reviews and rank, but it is not absolute. Museums with higher ranks are more likely to be reviewed by more users. Most museums have reviews less than 5000, and most museums with more than 5000 reviews are in the top 5 range. However, there are some highly reviews museums ranked lower. This is because the country is located in has many museums, so the ranking of museums is not really reliable.

There is a certain positive correlation relationship between the number of reviews and ratings, but it is not absolute. Museums with higher ratings are more likely to be reviewed by more users. Unexpectedly, most museums with a high number of reviews have a rating of 4.5, and a few have a rating of 5.0. A rating of 4.5 is a relatively fair rating.

CONCLUSION

The top choices of users from Tripadvisor meet the following conditions:

1. Museum rating >= 4.5

2. Museum review counts >= 5,000

3. The rank of museums should be a secondary consideration after rating and review count.
